What to do after you have had a traffic accident

​Immediatly after having a traffic accident, If anyone in your vehicle is hurt or yourself call 000.

If possible and safe to do so carefully move the vehicle off to the side of the road and turn off your vehicle.

​

Check the other vehicle for injuries and assist if possible.

​

Gather their details such as:

-Vehicle plate Registration

-Drivers full name

-Drivers licence number

-Drivers phone number 

If the other driver is unwilling for your safety obtain what information you can.

​

Take note of the other vehicles registration number plate as well as location of accident, nearest cross roads.

​

Take pictures! Lots of pictures as this says so much about the accident. Using your phone if you have one available.

​

Details of any witness’s willing to give their contact information.

Once home down load any dash cam footage*

*Unless the car has been towed.
